About Patricia

“For decades, I’ve been proud to stand with women across Ontario — in the classroom, in our communities, and in politics.”

Patricia is a lifelong community advocate whose career and volunteer work reflect a deep and enduring commitment to serving others. For over 40 years, she has called Eastern Ontario home—studying, working, and raising her family in the Ottawa region. She now lives in Nepean with her husband, and is a proud, devoted mother and grandmother.

With a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa, Patricia built a career rooted in public service. She has worked as a teacher, a social worker, and as a political staffer on Parliament Hill, where she supported Members of Parliament and Ministers. In every role, Patricia has brought compassion, integrity, and a drive to improve the lives of those around her.

Service has been the defining thread throughout Patricia’s life. Her decades of volunteer work with the Liberal Party of Canada and the Ontario Liberal Party reflect that same commitment. She has taken on numerous leadership roles, including Riding Association President for Nepean–Carleton, Chair of the Ottawa Regional Federal Women’s Club, President of the Nepean Provincial Women’s Club, and Vice-President for the East Region of the Ontario Women’s Liberal Commission (OWLC). In recognition of her contributions, Patricia was honoured to receive the Evans-Portch Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award for the Ontario Liberal Party in 2019. More recently, in 2024, she was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award for the Ontario Women’s Liberal Commission, for her dedicated service as the OWLC’s East Region Vice President.

Beyond politics, Patricia has made a lasting impact through her extensive community service, supporting women and families, promoting safe housing, and helping to strengthen the social fabric of her community.

“As a teacher, social worker, staff member on Parliament Hill, community advocate, and political volunteer, I’ve learned that change happens when we empower people and bring voices forward. That’s the spirit I’ve brought to my work with the OWLC — and it’s the spirit I’ll continue to bring as your East Region Vice-President.”

Leadership in Our Communities

“When women lead, our communities thrive.”

Patricia has had the privilege of serving where it matters most — building safer, stronger, and more inclusive communities:

Nelson House: Founding Chair & Past President, helping women and children who are fleeing violence.

Nepean Rideau Osgoode Community Resource Centre: Past President & Director, delivering essential social programs in urban and rural communities.

Coalition for Health & Community Centres: Member, Fighting for better access to care.

Habitat for Humanity: Volunteer, supporting the construction of safe, affordable homes for families.

Ottawa Distinguished Women: Vice Chair, Indigenous and Multicultural Communities, recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women in Ottawa.

Supporting Women in Politics

“The OWLC has shown me what’s possible when women step forward — and when we make sure they have the tools to succeed. I’ve organized events, raised funds, and mentored women because I deeply believe in lifting up the next generation of women leaders.”

As East Region Vice President for the OWLC, Patricia has:

Organized events like “Add Women, Change Policy”, a roundtable policy event that highlighted issues that are important to women and their families and “A Celebration of Women in Politics”, an event that recognized and celebrated Women MPPs, MPs and past candidates in the East Region.

Coordinated and co-authored a policy report titled “Add Women, Change Policy”. This report highlighted 5 topics (Women and the Law, Women and Aging, Gender Based Violence, Childcare in Ontario and Women in Leadership Roles) that are vitally important to women and their families but that often get lost in the larger policy discussion. This report included a number of recommendations and policy proposals to address some of the challenges women face.

Raised significant funds for the Margaret Campbell Fund (more than any other region in Ontario), providing direct campaign support to first-time women candidates. In the 2025 provincial election, this helped the OWLC contribute $2,000 each to the 25 first-time women candidates.

Mentored women across the East Region, ensuring they had the confidence and support to succeed.

Supported the 4 active Women’s Clubs in East Region, the most of any region in Ontario, while continuing to recruit members for new clubs to strengthen women’s voices in East Region.

Served as a strong voice for East Region on the OWLC Executive, advocating for support and funding for East Region activities, and contributing to central OWLC initiatives.

Supported local campaigns in the East Region, including organizing women’s canvassing blitzes for local woman candidates in the 2025 provincial and federal elections.

Why Vote for Patricia at the AGM?

“This election is about who will stand up for our region and ensure women’s voices are at the centre of our movement. I’m ready to continue doing that work — with you, and for you.”

Patricia remains committed to:

Recruitment for New OWLC Clubs and Support for Existing Clubs – so every community has a strong voice.

Mentorship & Support – so more women run, win, and lead within the Ontario Liberal Party and on the ballot.

Community Leadership – using her decades of experience to keep women connected, energized, and ready for the future.

Continued Collaboration – working with PLAs, Commissions, and other regions to strengthen women’s leadership in East Region and across Ontario.

“If you place your trust in me, I will never stop working to ensure women in Eastern Ontario have the voice, the resources, and the opportunities they deserve in our Party and in politics.”

Patricia was an early supporter of the Liberal Seniors’ Commission and she has been a strong partner in our campaign to create the Commission. That partnership has resulted in our joint commitment to advocate for the interests and concerns of Ontario Liberal Seniors and Liberal Women.

Her years long dedication to the Liberal values we all hold dear is evidenced by her long term commitment to Liberal Women and to her indefatigable volunteer work to elect Liberal candidates in Eastern Region. There is no stronger volunteer than Patricia. Campaign after campaign, door to door, she has worked shoulder to shoulder with Candidates, volunteers, and staff to build the Ontario Liberal Party. Her experience and skill - learned over years - is the key to successful campaigns.

These and many other reasons are why she has my unwavering endorsement for the Ontario Women’s Liberal Commission Regional Vice-President East.

Sheila Bryan

Chair, Ontario Liberal Seniors’ Commission

The engagement of, and support for women in the Ontario Liberal Party and most recently in Eastern Ontario is due in large part to Patricia’s tenacious investment in women and their leadership roles. I credit Patricia’s guidance and encouragement to me joining the Party first as your Vice President for the Eastern Region and then as an honoured candidate.

Her vision, leadership and thoughtfulness combined with her vast knowledge and experience continues to shape our culture of inclusion and for which I and so many are eternally grateful. We need Patricia and so value her continued commitment to the OLP.

Danielle Takacs

President, Ottawa Centre PLA & Past OWLC VP – Federal; OWLC Secretary and OWLC Young Women

I’ve known Patricia for over 40 years. I replaced Patricia as the Eastern Ontario OWLC representative sometime in 2000 or so and that started my journey with the OWLC.

We’ve worked together organizing events for Liberal women in all levels of government. Patricia was always looking for Liberal women to run for office and mentored many who ran or who wanted to run. She organized events to educate and train women about politics, to raise money for the Margaret Campbell Fund, and to celebrate Liberal women who ran for office. Patricia had no hesitation in using her personal funds to generously donate to Liberal women running for office, and to make the events successful and professional.

I highly endorse Patricia for the OWLC VP East Ontario. She is a true and strong Liberal. She exemplifies leadership, commitment to Liberal values, engagement with Liberal women through recruitment, training and mentorship, and a force to reckon with!
